Lover’s Quest
We can lie in lust or love
in safe, night beds
next to wives or lovers,
with soft flesh heat,
kissing bodies closer
with a snuggling comfort,
or a flaring passion,
or a slight hand touch
beneath concealing covers
that make dark hours pass,
extending pain’s vision,
leaving us dazed and hungry
wondering why we must be
soul adrift.
Renewal
In the full creation cry
of man and woman
falling together
like a darkening sky,
finally crashing
on soft, sweet loam
of rediscovered earth.
The Seeker
Shall I be a good man,
but how will virtues grow?
Should I read the books
that claim immortal truths,
but conceal how to find them?
I could ask passing strangers
what they know,
but I wouldn’t believe them.
