Morning After
Like breathing in after surfacing,
A glimpse through a window passing –
Gold stars scattered through a swath of green,
A dead branch and gumnuts’ perfect symmetry,
The dance of light on water
Where the river laughs,
The phantasm of cirrus high and feathered,
a dancers’ scarf -
It’s worth the looking
Even though your night was dark.
