INTO THE SEA

SEARCHING FOR THE HEART IN THE STONE

SEARCHING FOR THE HEART IN THE STONE

Searching for the heart in the stone.
She pushed me away with her granite hands
and I found no entrance.

My life without her was fruitless.
It went on, bitter in taste.
Her weary eyes filled with tears
and then silence.
It was something like death.
I could not open dialogue with her.
She would not spare one word.

Her silence left me no choice,
but to choke on my own heart.
The longer she remained silence
the more I choked.
She would not spare one word.
Time was infinite.
Her speech was mute for me.

I had a dream
and then another,
a dream where she spoke,
a dream where she spoke to me,
and I found the heart
I was searching for.
I had a dream
and then another.

INTO THE SEA

Into the sea
I would fall like
Sappho.  To go
on with my life

without your love
like some loser
makes my heart feel
like imploding.

In a smoky
fire, drowned at sea,
or the usual
drunk on booze car
crash at high speeds,
I would go there.
