The Rambling Park of My Youth
Through wrought-iron gates
Sits an empty football field
Mist-edged grass, host to dawn-frolicking rabbits
A serpentine path leads into the surrounding woodlands
Twists and twines through towering trees
Down to the river’s edge
These waters have seen their fair share of skin
And the dampened soil and sand of its banks
Have relished the warmth of young buttocks
Pressed close in the dappled summer sun
As a falcon watches beneath a canopy of exotic foliage
The both of us waiting
‘til time is opportune
