Heat<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

You sat in my lap<\/span>
\nin that half lit kitchen<\/span>
\nand the chewing gum<\/span>
\nmelted in my mouth.<\/span>
\nMy eyes faded.<\/span>
\nMy body stiffened,<\/span>
\nstruck by lightning.<\/span>
\nYou goddess,<\/span>
\nyou mad everlasting,<\/span>
\nyou unfolding flower,<\/span>
\nyou smoldering comet,<\/span>
\nyou loosening corset,<\/span>
\nyou haunting violin,<\/span>
\nyou hunted fox,<\/span>
\nyou hounded genius,<\/span>
\nyou brilliant sun,<\/span>
\nyou purple wavering twilight,<\/span>
\nyou baying moonlight happenstance,<\/span>
\nyou praying trembling virgin,<\/span>
\nyou gift from an apologizing Creator.<\/span><\/p>\n

That was heat,<\/span>
\nthat was youth,<\/span>
\nthat was need,<\/span>
\nthat was then.<\/span><\/p>\n
