Endangered Species<\/strong><\/p>\n

I last saw one of them
\nlast week painting by the
\nlake, just standing there,
\nbrush in hand, stroking
\nthe canvas, as if they
\nbelonged outside
\nafter all. But that was
\nSpring and newness still
\ntries, still clings during those
\nfirst weeks, but now it
\nis past that and the streets and
\nparks have been
\nmostly empty since them.
\nI hear that most of them are
\nnow living working inside,
\ngone into hiding,
\nsitting mostly,
\nswelling up from
\nalgorithmic bitmaps,
\nflooding days with the
\nmadness of addiction.
\nToday, I left the house
\nin search of a public bathroom
\nwhere I could inhale the
\nstink of genuine shit
\nand stand somewhere
\nwhere smell would overwhelm
\nthe compulsion of staring
\nindifferently
\nat walls.<\/p>\n

George Korolog generally begins his poetry readings with the self serving question, \u201cWho is the guy in the fucking suit?\u201d \u00a0He works in the right hemisphere side of the world with a left hemisphere brain. \u00a0He makes it work. \u00a0His work has been widely published in over fifty print and online journals such as Forge, Punchnels, Poets&Artists, Red River Review, Poetry Quarterly, Connotation Press, Naugatuck River Review, Corvus, Contemporary Haibun, The Chaffey Review, Riverbabble, Blue Fifth, Grey Sparrow Journal, Blue Lake Review and many others. \u00a0His poem, \u201cFrom tending sheep to confusion on the Amtrak 10:50\u201d was awarded second prize in the prestigious 2011 Tom Howard\/John H. Reid Poetry Contest. \u00a0He was a runner up in the 2012 in the Contemporary American Poetry Prize for his poem, \u201cSoul Stone.
