AFTER A DAY OF BIRD WATCHING<\/strong><\/p>\n

 
\nThe way one stops
\nto listen to
\nthe quiet of a house
\nat night,
\nbroken by what sounds
\nlike a meow,
\nmore quiet, then
\nanother meow.<\/p>\n

Before looking at
\nthe hour’s red blur,
\nand rolling back into
\nthe safety of flannel sheets,
\nthe human in the dark
\nsmiles: more than one
\nfamily member
\nis dreaming.

Chad Norman lives by the high tides of the Atlantic.
\nHis poems have appeared in various publications around the globe.
\nA new collection, Masstown, is due out Fall 2013, from Canadian publisher, Black Moss press.
