Geyser<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Few things sadder<\/p>\n

than your inconsistencies.<\/p>\n

First, a quandary of rocks<\/p>\n

scattered in jest, each smeared<\/p>\n

with their own handwriting.<\/p>\n

Second, no place to call<\/p>\n

a sanctuary, no one there<\/p>\n

without taking you<\/p>\n

for granted. Third, an occasional<\/p>\n

burst of remonstrance to show<\/p>\n

you are alive, buried<\/p>\n

in melancholic soil. Anything<\/p>\n

that is beaten is impressive<\/p>\n

while it lasts.<\/p>\n

Born in 1991, Jerrold Yam is a Singaporean law undergraduate at University College London and the author of two poetry collections, Scattered Vertebrae (Math Paper Press, 2013) and Chasing Curtained Suns (Math Paper Press, 2012). His poems have appeared in more than fifty literary journals worldwide, including Poetry Quarterly, The New Poet, Third Coast and Washington Square Review. He is the winner of the National University of Singapore\u2019s Creative Writing Competition 2011, and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
