The Poem as Cliche<\/strong><\/p>\n

Woman dancing, Tai Chi
\nIn Washington Square
\nActually Chinese,
\nNot just a collector<\/p>\n

I take four hours to
\nDrink a fifth of vodka
\nAnd eat one
\nApple Fritter<\/p>\n

These beggar\u2019s banquets
\nHave become luxuries<\/p>\n

Remember camping here
\nThis same bench
\nTried to sleep anyhow
\nToo crazy, manic, cold<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t for
\nThe better part
\nOf a year
\nJust \u201crested my eyes\u201d<\/p>\n

Like Granpa used to say
\nExcept he was actually sleeping<\/p>\n

There are dogs
\nAnd there are dogs
\nAnd there are dogs and
\nStill more dogs<\/p>\n

Sun\u2019s going down,
\nReading soon at City Lights
\nOf course, seeing Brautigan
\nThere by the statue<\/p>\n

Everything feels a bit used,
\na little too
\nNorthbeachbeatnikredux
\nThe same old shit
\nWriting about writers, now, to boot<\/p>\n

Not enough selves
\nLeft to go around<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t try it, a fool\u2019s game, it\u2019s
\nOver, \u201cNo Smoking\u201d now in this park
\nI cup my fag inside my palm
\nChew another bite of donut<\/p>\n

I haven\u2019t had a drink
\nIn ten days
\nIt was supposed to be thirty, but,
\nAll bets are off<\/p>\n

Some poet has already
\nBeen here<\/p>\n
