a penny
\nis not love
\nnor is the clasp
\nthat opens
\nand shuts.
\nIt\u2019s not shiny
\nfabric or fancy
\nstitching.
\nDig deeper
\ninto hidden
\npockets: one
\ngold earring
\nthe wrong
\nshade of lipstick
\nan old receipt
\nisn\u2019t love
\nthat’s life.
\nThe clutch:
\nit’s the grip
