tending to
\nlocutions<\/p>\n

of a one-eyed
\nparrot<\/p>\n

milking
\nthe moon<\/p>\n

in the blink
\nof paroxysm<\/p>\n

clasping
\na mirror<\/p>\n

in an honored
\nassembly<\/p>\n

holding
\na baritone<\/p>\n

in a skein
\nof lies<\/p>\n

 
\nMicrocosm<\/strong><\/p>\n

we are emblematic<\/p>\n

of time’s circularity<\/p>\n

but extinguished daily<\/p>\n

in rituals<\/p>\n

 
\nRecollection<\/strong><\/p>\n

exposed
\n& christened
\nin an age
\nof sorrow<\/p>\n

abundance
\nof hyaline
\npockets
\nof grief<\/p>\n

through
\nashes & stones
\nwe posit,
\nwe swallow<\/p>\n

cremating
\nthe past
\nin a shared
\ndysphoria<\/p>\n

Zaina Anwar is a Pakistani artist and poet currently based in Islamabad, Pakistan. She has been writing poetry for the last five to six years and has been published in multiple online magazines and an anthology. She has strong Sufi inclinations and her poetry naturally tends to lean toward the equally mystical genre of Surrealism. She maintains a website\/blog called Indigenous Dialogues<\/em>.<\/p>\n
