{"id":2746,"date":"2016-04-11T03:38:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-11T03:38:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fullofcrow.com\/poetry\/?page_id=2746"},"modified":"2016-04-11T03:38:19","modified_gmt":"2016-04-11T03:38:19","slug":"gary-beck-april-2016","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fullofcrow.com\/poetry\/archives\/gary-beck-april-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Gary Beck, April 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lover\u2019s Quest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can lie in lust or love<br \/>\nin safe, night beds<br \/>\nnext to wives or lovers,<br \/>\nwith soft flesh heat,<br \/>\nkissing bodies closer<br \/>\nwith a snuggling comfort,<br \/>\nor a flaring passion,<br \/>\nor a slight hand touch<br \/>\nbeneath concealing covers<br \/>\nthat make dark hours pass,<br \/>\nextending pain\u2019s vision,<br \/>\nleaving us dazed and hungry<br \/>\nwondering why we must be<br \/>\nsoul adrift.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Renewal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the full creation cry<br \/>\nof man and woman<br \/>\nfalling together<br \/>\nlike a darkening sky,<br \/>\nfinally crashing<br \/>\non soft, sweet loam<br \/>\nof rediscovered earth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Seeker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shall I be a good man,<br \/>\nbut how will virtues grow?<br \/>\nShould I read the books<br \/>\nthat claim immortal truths,<br \/>\nbut conceal how to find them?<br \/>\nI could ask passing strangers<br \/>\nwhat they know,<br \/>\nbut I wouldn\u2019t believe them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Gary Beck has spent most of his adult life as a theater director, and as an art dealer when he couldn\u2019t make a living in theater. He has 11 published chapbooks. His poetry collections include: Days of Destruction (Skive Press), Expectations (Rogue Scholars Press). Dawn in Cities, Assault on Nature, Songs of a Clerk, Civilized Ways, Displays (Winter Goose Publishing).
