radiation oranges<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

if I am filled
\nwith hate<\/p>\n

it is
\nbecause
\nhumanity
\nhas given me
\nmuch reason
\nto hate<\/p>\n

nevertheless
\nI still feel it
\nwhen it’s
\na beautiful day<\/p>\n

and I am still
\ncapable
\nof learning
\nfrom my mistakes<\/p>\n

and I am still
\nfilled with
\ncompassion<\/p>\n

perhaps more so
\nthan most …<\/p>\n

anyway,
\nperhaps things
\nwill get better
\ngoing forward<\/p>\n

stranger things
\nhave happened<\/p>\n

so long as
\nwe don’t lose our way
\nany further
\nand no one pushes
\nthe nuclear button….<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the homeless of New York<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I remember them all
\nthe homeless of New York<\/p>\n

black, white, men, women<\/p>\n

the men leaning up against walls
\nholding out styrofoam cups<\/p>\n

I always gave a dollar to one or another
\nof them
\nand they would always say
\nthank you, sir and I was only 12<\/p>\n

I remember the woman
\nwho was lying in front of our door
\nI had to step over her\u2014
\nwhat else could I do?<\/p>\n

there was the one guy
\nwho was so hungry he was crying<\/p>\n

see, the powers that be
\nwant it this way
\ncuz it’s good for their
\nbottom line<\/p>\n

we’re all caught in this world
\nthey’ve created
\nand maybe there ain’t enough
\ncompassion
\nor maybe there ain’t enough
\nmoney to go around
\nwith the 1% hogging it all<\/p>\n

a fine world this is
\nwhere some are left with
\nnothing\u2014
\nno home, no hope,
\nnot even enough food to eat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
