{"id":3102,"date":"2017-07-24T22:49:22","date_gmt":"2017-07-24T22:49:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fullofcrow.com\/poetry\/?page_id=3102"},"modified":"2017-07-24T22:49:22","modified_gmt":"2017-07-24T22:49:22","slug":"seth-jani-summer-2017","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fullofcrow.com\/poetry\/archives\/seth-jani-summer-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Seth Jani, Summer 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Up the Rungs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Assured that everything broken<br \/>\nIs a requirement for the God<br \/>\nOf Mending\u2019s tinkering concern,<br \/>\nWe walk out under the damaged<br \/>\nEaves of autumn,<br \/>\nNo longer afraid of the poisonous rain<br \/>\nOr the toxic catalog<br \/>\nOf all that\u2019s wrong<br \/>\nThis cool day<br \/>\nAt the end of our belief.<br \/>\nWe finally give up<br \/>\nOur calculations,<br \/>\nOur statistical concerns,<br \/>\nAnd let the apparatus of the body<br \/>\nTouch its darkened charges<br \/>\nTo the wind-carved sockets<br \/>\nOf the earth.<br \/>\nLight fray, crackling little stars,<br \/>\nAnd all of us going up<br \/>\nLike zealots in a flame.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Archipelagos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A migrant from the north<br \/>\nI carried all my snows with me,<br \/>\nDown along the valley,<br \/>\nPast the archipelagos of ice,<br \/>\nEven while I turned inwards<br \/>\nTo tend those other fires.<\/p>\n<p>Being born up among the birch trees,<br \/>\nIn the loneliest corners, by the river\u2019s<br \/>\nBeginning or end, is to be an exile<br \/>\nAll your days, a fundamental stranger,<br \/>\nA mirage of otherness<br \/>\nIn the familiar light.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Seth Jani currently resides in Seattle, WA and is the founder of Seven Circle Press (www.sevencirclepress.com).
