Whose body’s potent leap
\nfashioned earth’s enormous mouth
\ninto a mourning painting
\netched into the canvas’ boiled texture,<\/p>\n

releasing a mighty exhale
\nfrom the seize of encasing cheeks
\ninto the patterned curves
\nof curtains<\/p>\n

relying on their thin shroud
\nto filter light’s crawl
\nonto the carpet’s rotting
\nskin.<\/p>\n

The body’s print
\nexacted against the chair’s
\nplush existence. Multiple<\/p>\n

interpretations of sitting positions
\nimagined as
\nstares into earth’s
\nmany movements<\/p>\n

relate self to a tree’s gnarled
\ncrust or squirrel’s scamper
\nthrough dulled blades
\nof grass’ shaved beard.<\/p>\n

The present is absence,
\ngone the bodies drawing
\nshape within equiangular shape,
\nwarmth of breath
\nimpersonating wind’s protrude,
\nsearching with caressing fingers,
\na body to ascertain and
\nwrap security around
\nthe relaxing waist.<\/p>\n

\nfragrance. Too
\norchids<\/p>\n

hoping to outrun (though
\nparalyzed in their
\npredetermined placement)<\/p>\n

man’s grabbing, orchestrated
\nhands. Such<\/p>\n

is the butterfly limping across air’s
\nyarn of fluidity, unlike the child
\ncrawling against<\/p>\n

a day’s hyper-conscience
\ncreating myriad open doors
\nwith the leading by subjective
\nwants,<\/p>\n

walking elations illustrating
\nmyopic destinations.<\/p>\n

\ndevotion
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 stayed surrendering to visual
\ndissection

\nrepresentational gift
\nmust allow devout observers
\nexhalation, affects of ascertaining

Felino Soriano (b. 1974, California) is a case manager and advocate for developmentally and physically disabled adults. He is the editor of Counterexample Poetics, www.counterexamplepoetics.com<\/span><\/a>, an online journal of experimental artistry. As a poet, he has authored seven collections of poetry, including Among the Interrogated (BlazeVOX [books], 2008) Feeling Through Mirages (Shadow Archer Press, 2008) Calling Toward Clarity (Chippens Press, 2009), Search among the Absent Found (Recycled Karma Press, 2009), and r (please press, 2009).
