A RUSTLING
\nLuis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal, September 2009<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n


\n<\/strong>There was a rustling
\nin the trees.
\nA song of mourning
\nburst out while
\nthe wind cried out in
\nthe background.
\nI could not breathe. I
\ncould not sleep.
\nI was up all night
\nlistening
\nto the sad song. I
\nwas mourning
\nthe woman I loved.
\nThe rustling
\nwas tapping on my
\ndoor. There was
\na time I would sleep.
\nthrough the noise.
\nI was a man not
\ndisturbed by
\nsuch things. Now I hear
\nrippling waves.
\nI feel them in my
\nheart. I used
\nto sing. Now others
\nsing instead.<\/p>\n
