Our ship shivers and splits on black rocks<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our ship shivers and splits on black rocks
\nAnd prayers avail us nothing in the end.
\nThe silvered timbers splinter in the foam,
\nWe fail and falter in the spinning wrack.
\nAnd so it is a million times a day,
\nEach human death a shipwreck in a storm,
\nEach wreck a world ending, hope foresworn
\nIn favor of a silent, slow decay.
\nThis is why we lie awake at night
\nListening in the darkness to the sea,
\nBecause we recognize our destiny
\nIs written in the ocean\u2019s breaking line.
\nDo not plead with heaven for more light,
\nDeath is just as beautiful as life.<\/p>\n
