David Smith:\u00a0 Crazy In Love With A Savage Messiah<\/em><\/p>\n

Ghastly and perverse,
\nwith lightly applied brushstrokes
\nof plausible insanity,
\nto know her,
\nto really
\nknow her,
\nis to redefine
\nthe meaning
\nof pale and interesting.<\/p>\n

A smiling serpent
\noddly coiled,
\nher strike point
\ndelicious anticipation,
\nrather than
\noutright delivery;
\na phlebotomist\u2019s worst nightmare,
\nas pure as something
\nyou might see
\nin a silent film.<\/p>\n

So chaste, so suffering,
\nso much love
\nso brutally misplaced;
\nlike Saint Bernadette
\nor General Franco,
\nwhen she gives you
\nextreme unction,
\nyou will not be surprised
\nwhen quickly and quietly
\nshe slices-off her cheeks,
\nbecause she no longer
\nwants her tears
