\n
The shower rush of falling<\/p>\n
awake 10 past 10 to toast.<\/p>\n
The crack slash of pens<\/p>\n
the muted breath<\/p>\n
masked innocence<\/p>\n
a mountain beneath.<\/p>\n
These things I present to you<\/p>\n
as palms upward.<\/p>\n
Your claim on the moment<\/p>\n
that would slip by were it not for<\/p>\n
the sounds that carries you<\/p>\n
past pressure.<\/p>\n
In the end you must always<\/p>\n
carry the price they to willingly<\/p>\n
extracted:<\/p>\n
a broken flame<\/p>\n
a free moment fragmented\u2026<\/p>\n
to<\/p>\n
the<\/p>\n
crash.<\/p>\n
Benedictine<\/p>\n
When the inner sanctum meets the end<\/p>\n
of time, where we find rest together:<\/p>\n
amidst glistening ashes,<\/p>\n
white feathers,<\/p>\n
obsidian petals,<\/p>\n
in the fall of bright silence<\/p>\n
to the beginning of The First New Syllable,<\/p>\n
there:<\/p>\n
we lay down whispers<\/p>\n
into peace.<\/p>\n
Oracle Notations<\/p>\n
\n
\n
Ten steps across the threshold:<\/p>\n
I.<\/p>\n
If it\u2019s friendship, we will fall<\/p>\n
after the last piece of carpet gives way.<\/p>\n
II.<\/p>\n
If it\u2019s love,<\/p>\n
and I can\u2019t be certain,<\/p>\n
let us collapse onto the couch,<\/p>\n
place our thoughts in a tarot<\/p>\n
spread and thank heaven we found<\/p>\n
common footing.<\/p>\n
III.<\/p>\n
If we feel threatened by<\/p>\n
the spice of each others creativity<\/p>\n
it\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n
Walk away,<\/p>\n
smell the hibiscus,<\/p>\n
then, and only when we are ready:<\/p>\n
return.<\/p>\n
IV.<\/p>\n
If it\u2019s hatred, I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n
We are glass creatures, volcanic<\/p>\n
in our temperament.<\/p>\n
Perhaps we never should have<\/p>\n
sought the sting of reflection.<\/p>\n
V.<\/p>\n
If we find music:<\/p>\n
chords, harmony, melody;<\/p>\n
open the house and<\/p>\n
invite others in to celebrate.<\/p>\n
Unsaid<\/p>\n
A half-full moon,<\/p>\n
colored scratch-rust red,<\/p>\n
pulls the ache in once<\/p>\n
fractured joints.<\/p>\n
The road is sticky from<\/p>\n
July humidity, 78 the coolest<\/p>\n
air will get tonight.<\/p>\n
Over the speakers<\/p>\n
three women harmonize<\/p>\n
drums in a language I will<\/p>\n
never know.<\/p>\n
One hour later<\/p>\n
what I want to say to you<\/p>\n
will not escape my mouth.<\/p>\n
Will not break humid air<\/p>\n
made worse in our presence.<\/p>\n
What is just under the<\/p>\n
graze of your eyes remains<\/p>\n
entirely fragile.<\/p>\n
What we really want<\/p>\n
is hidden in an ache<\/p>\n
whose color is the bruised black<\/p>\n
that brings out the moon’s rust.<\/p>\n
