We all carry things\u2014
\nThe most dear often reside in the microcosm of our minds\u2014<\/p>\n

Sometimes we are compelled to shed these traces of ourselves, to cut them clean away, to separate ourselves from them like flesh from bone. What civilians dismiss as baggage, writers capture and render into art; writers give baggage a good name. Reading for the April issue was titillating, so many mind blowing submissions; it was a challenging task, but we\u2019ve arrived and are thrilled to present the work of 13 remarkable and refreshing writers.<\/p>\n

This quarter\u2019s Full of Crow Poets cull from the most mundane moments in life and turn them into literary artifacts. A moment of regret is perfectly captured in Michael Brownstein\u2019s \u201cA Tear in a Screen and It\u2019s Partly Cloudy Outside:\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish I had said, yes, and let her dark hands cover my feet
\ninstead of the thing I did which was give her exact change
\nand watch her fade into the lamplight\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cathleen Daly is \u201ccarrying something like a valise\u2026.red in its snap cricket hinges.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her poem \u201cRust Belts\u201d Cat Conway announces that she will \u201chug the spit and the smoke smells of home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sergio Ortiz will launch you \u201cbetween cactus and a lute\u2026 \u201cbetween a drunk and a compass\u201d\u2026and \u201cbetween parchment and volcano.\u201d<\/p>\n

Changming Yuan has \u201ca leash\/unleashed in his hand,\u201d while Adam Henry Carriere unleashes in his own style, \u201chorny smoky drunk and still choosy\/wound to tight how ya. doin.\u201d<\/p>\n

I hope you enjoy reading this issue, because as Carol Lynn Grellas reminds us, these moments are transitional, and oh so temporary:<\/p>\n

\u201c while I gather
\nyour things in half-empty room,
\nthe glass by your bed with its spittle<\/p>\n

kiss on the rim. A threadbare screen
\nflaunts remnants of feathers tangled
\nin mesh; ironic as a sieve ensnaring<\/p>\n
